On June 14, 2015, Ron and Linda Watson celebrated 47 years of marriage. Ron is a well-respected retired local pastor. Through 35 years of ministry, three children and 5 grandchildren, Ron and Linda have seen many joyous days.  They have shared laughter and tears, incredible joys and too many tragedies. Through it all, they have stayed by one another’s side.

To celebrate 47 years, the Watsons planned a trip to Europe this week. Their itinerary included traveling through The Netherlands, Germany, France and the British Isles, stopping to see castles, historical sites and meet Ron’s English cousins for the first time. A grand trip for sure.

That was the plan, but God had something else in mind. On Saturday, while visiting family in Seattle, Ron fell and injured his right shoulder and left ankle.  While his ankle is improving, he is visiting the doctor this week to determine if the shoulder will need surgery.

While Ron and Linda are understandably disappointed to have to postpone their travels, Ron’s attitude is one from which we can all draw inspiration. He knows God has a plan for him and is prepared to accept whatever may be in store for him.

“Since God could have prevented the fall but didn’t, and since we have yielded our lives to His control, I conclude He has a better plan than ours and I can be more useful here at this time”, Watson said.

Ron and Linda have dedicated their lives to serving God and others. And they had a positive impact on so many people over the years. Ron has been very moved by the support from those very people at this time.

“So far, it seems like Heaven is being inundated with prayer for me. I am humbled to tears by the outpouring of love to me.”

We are not promised tomorrow, but we do have today and the blessings it contains. Thank you, Ron Watson, for that timely reminder. Get well soon!
