We are a non-denominational Christian Church. You're invited to share with us as we humbly seek to follow Him. "Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men. Let them exalt him in the assembly of the people and praise him" Ps. 107:31-32 Faith, hope and love expressed in worship, service and Christian living are the only answers to the problems and needs of the world, and are a true expression of the Church of the Living Christ. Our desire is to exalt our God and King through prayer, praise and worship, and that your faith will be increased, your love enhanced and your courage strengthened. A Brief History … Gleneden Beach Christian Church began when a small group of people met for some time in the Community Hall. Feeling a need for a structure of their own, they purchased the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Cary in February, 1951. Cary, who founded Gleneden Beach, built the house from lumber salvaged from a ship wrecked at Boiler Bay. The old Cary house has served well through the years -- first as the sanctuary and fellowship/kitchen area. In 1992 a new sanctuary that more than tripled the seating was begun and was completed in 1993. The old building now serves as the pastors office, church office, a meeting room and fellowship hall / kitchen. On April 29, 2005 at a congregational meeting, Carl Wohlwend was voted in as Senior Pastor and he began serving at Gleneden Beach Christian Church on May 1, 2005. Pastor Carl holds a B.A. degree in Bible, Theology and Pastoral Ministry from San Jose Christian College (now William Jessup University). He and his wife, Serena, come to Gleneden Beach from Modesto, California, where they established the Christian Unity Recovery Encounter (C.U.R.E.) program which serves people who have emotional hurts and desire healing. The C.U.R.E. class was based upon J. Keith Miller’s series entitled, “A Hunger For Healing” which is a Christian 12 step program. Pastor Carl and Serena have also been involved in youth ministry, pastoral care, missions, Christian Education & home Bible studies. Pastor Carl’s favorite Bible verses are found in Ephesians 3:15-21. In this passage the Apostle Paul expresses his desire that the church at Ephesus would be rooted and established in love, know the power of God and grasp the deep love of Christ. Pastor Carl views ministry as a life of serving and honoring the Lord by pursuing, serving and honoring one another. He said, “the mission of the church is not complete until each of us has learned to reach the lost and disciple them. This preparation is a constant, continuing process of godly love.” Who We Are … What We Believe ... We believe that God has a unique purpose for Gleneden Beach Christian Church. We are seeking that purpose and continually growing in our knowledge and wisdom that the Lord is revealing. Our aim is that: 1) God might be praised; 2) That Christ might have the preeminence & 3) that all who pause to worship might find renewal, the peace that passes all understanding, and grace sufficient for life’s every need. We value … · Lost people because they matter to God · The application of Biblical truths to daily life · Providing help and healing for the hurting · The pursuit of full devotion to Christ through spiritual disciplines · Building healthy relationships through small group interaction · Teamwork in outreaches into the community · Unity in the essentials · Love in all things. · Celebrating God’s presence through worship, both private and corporate We believe that faith, hope and love expressed in worship, service and Christian living are the only answer to the problems and needs of the world, and are a true expression of the Church of the Living Christ. You are invited to share with us as we humbly seek to follow Him, so that the kingdom of God may come and His will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. We are a Bible and Christ-centered church. Our worship service is traditional and contemporary. We observe the Lord’s Supper each week and baptize by immersion. Membership is open to all who profess faith in Christ as Lord and Savior and who have followed His example in baptism and who desire fellowship with the members of the body of Christ in Gleneden Beach.
